Public education and outreach
Our team engages one-on-one with over 5,000 people annually.
Whether it’s educating the public at a large community events, hosting a presentation, open house or going door to door in rural communities, multifamily units or businesses, our team has over 20 years experience in all of the above.
In person communication is extremely effective in clarifying a residents' understanding of environmental regulations and is the most effective way to help people overcome barriers to increase participation in programs such as curbside organics, backyard composting or recycling.
Repair cafes and swaps
Don’t toss it, fix it!
Our team helps support multiple regional repair cafes and clothing swaps each year with signage, an event kit, planning and marketing tools as well as onsite coordination and engagement.
Coordinating repair cafes is a wonderful way to bring volunteer experts together with community members who see value in repairing their items rather than throwing them away (or recycling them).
With a 75%+ overall repair rate , we see many small appliances, electronics and textiles getting a new lease of life.
Solid waste management planning
Global Affinity is a great partner to help move along the solid waste management planning process.
Global Affinity can help your community create a roadmap to reduce waste while connecting with strategic plans to help build a resilient community.
We are able to:

Active transportation engagement
We engage with thousands of people annually to boost transit ridership. By hosting a booth, doing presentations and fun contests on and off the bus, more and more people are choosing transit.
We work with BC Transit to deliver the Youth Bus Ready program to schools across the community, offering the opportunity for over 200 students per school to learn about bus etiquette and take a bus ride, helping kids become future transit riders.
We also deliver a Transit Smart workshop to seniors centres and community groups, offering 1-2 hours in person transit education and trip planning, ending with a bus ride around town.
Indigenous community engagement
Whether it is energy conservation and rebates, water and waste reduction or planning for the future, Global Affinity has you covered.
Working with First Nation communities has become a focus for Darrell, who has helped 15 nations access upgrades and funding. Darrell completes the pre and post energy assessments along with inspection of other health, safety and energy efficiency data the Nation is looking to improve.
Global Affinity worked with Morrison Hershfield (now Stantec) to support Malahat Nation’s Solid Waste Management Plan. By offering creative ways to engage the community, we were able to offer a fresh way to obtain input while giving back to the community in a culturally significant way.
Residential and commercial energy management
Darrell has conducted over 1,000 EnerGuide Home Evaluation assessments, using a pre and post blower door test to help residents learn about the efficiency and comfort of their homes and provides a report with recommendations on upgrades and rebates.
With the experience of over 1,500 commercial energy assessments, Darrell conducts customizable energy assessments of to help businesses better understand energy usage and efficiency opportunities.
Using ASHRAE standards level 1 and/or 2, Darrell can focus on specific project upgrades or provide annual schedules to maximize efficiency based on the data acquired. Visit www.focusedenergy.ca for more details.
